On August 15, China Resources Healthcare signed a cooperation agreement on Systematic Training on JCI International Medical Quality and Safety Standards with Xiamen Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, inaugurating the official start of the Program of Systematic Training in JCI International Medical Quality and Safety Standards in Xiamen. A total of 12 hospitals under the Xiamen municipal government will take part in the training program and relevant initiatives, guided by China Resources-JCI Hospital Management Institute. As the first training program commissioned by the government since the inception of China Resources-JCI Hospital Management Institute, it is the largest systematic training project ever launched by JCI in the world.

The JCI (Joint Commission International) is an accreditation system developed by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) to incorporate the best hospitals worldwide into the international quality assessment and insurance system, and the JCI standards are universally acknowledged as the “golden standards” for medical quality and patient safety management. China Resources Healthcare founded China Resources-JCI Hospital Management Institute jointly with JCI during the first half of 2016, and thus became the only official partner of JCI in mainland China and Hong Kong. The institute is also the first joint-venture medical quality management training organization ever established by the JCI in the world. As the global training platform of China Resources Healthcare, China Resources-JCI Hospital Management Institute seeks to introduce most authentic and authoritative JCI training courses and publications to Chinese medical institutions, committing itself to developing localized theoretical tools for medical quality and safety management, promoting best practices, and effectively enhancing the standard of hospital operations and management in China, on the back of JCI’s advanced knowledge system.

Through the cooperation with Xiamen Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, China Resources Healthcare will assist Xiamen in creating world-class hospitals in the city, enhancing the medical expertise and technology, quality and safety management and medical services at hospitals under the commission, drawing on the company’s extensive resources in terms of hospital management and JCI training. The program will open the door for the hospitals to the global medical market, enabling them to provide the public with more patient-friendly, standardized and internationalized medical services. Training and accreditation will be carried out separately. In phase one, a six-month practical training course will be offered by China Resources-JCI Hospital Management Institute focusing on Thoughts and Practices of Medical Quality and Safety Based on the JCI Theory to improve the management of medical service quality and safety in the region. It will be followed by JCI accreditation for hospitals in the city (phase two) when the time is ripe.

Ruan Dunliang, Deputy Secretary-General of Xiamen Government, Yang Shuyu, Director of Xiamen Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, Deputy Director Sun Wei, Chen Xiangguang, Deputy Director of the Financial Bureau of Xiamen, Zhang Ruohan, Director of JCI Asia Pacific, Senior Consultant Linda L. Faber, Consultant Richard A. Wright, and managers from China Resources Healthcare and China Resources-JCI Hospital Management Institute were present at the inauguration ceremony.
