Recently, CSMC’s third-generation ultrahigh pressure and open OEM platform of 700V BCD series has been successfully developed. It is based on its second-generation silicon substrate of 700V BCD. Compared with that of the second generation, the design rules for technical control circuit of the third-generation is reduced by 15% through continuous improvement on technology, and the core 700V DMOS component characteristic on resistance has met the standard of the international advanced 19 ohm.mm2, with key features such as ESD and UIS largely improved. It’s suitable for manufacturing LED illumination-driven chip and AC-DC power conversion chip.
It is reported the voltage of CSMC’s BCD technology platform ranges from 1.8V to 700V, line width extending from 1μm to 0.18μm, and is able to meet the overall demand for high voltage, high accuracy and density. CSMC was the sole company in China to develop the first-generation 700V CDMOS technology in 2007, and the first to combine low-voltage CMOS-controlled circuit with 700V DMOS monolithic integration, which has reached the international advanced level. With this technology, CSMC has gained the largest share in the market of domestic small household appliances; the product has won the second prize of national technological innovation. Again, it was the first in China to develop the second-generation silicon substrate 700V BCD technology in 2010, and has successful cooperation with a great number of customers in terms of the application of LED illumination driving and AC-DC power conversion. A mass production was achieved at the end of 2011. The successful development of the third-generation ultrahigh pressure 700V BCD series technology further reinforces and improves the core competency within the field of BCD technology platform. Due to the increasing importance in energy conservation and emission reduction and environmental protection of BCD technology, the application of its LED illumination driving shows enormous potential in the domestic market and promises a great prospect.
