Recently, the renovation work on China Resources Building in Hong Kong won Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold award, which represents the public recognition of the leading role of the building in environment protection.

The notion of green building is exemplified in the design, construction property management of the renovation project on China Resources Building, which, coupled with measures for effective energy reservation, emission reduction, green purchase, water conservation and quality of interior air, achieved remarkable performance. After the transformation, it is estimated that the project will save 1.65 million kwh of electricity, approximately 10% less than that before. Approximately 75% of the construction waste (about 53 tons) was recycled during the construction. More than 10% of the construction materials used for the building were recycled products purchased within 800km from Hong Kong, meeting the requirements for green building. Drought-resisting plants and low-flow faucets with automatic induction function were used for the landscape of the building, which, as estimated, will save 11,000m3 of water each year. The external ventilation rate is 30% higher than the minimum requirement of ASHRAE Standard (USA), effectively improving the air quality in the building.

China Resources Building Renovation Project has passed the annual process audit since it is pre-qualified for the candidacy of LEED Gold Award since 2010 and now has been formally certified, marking that the renovation project has reached the advanced international standard.
