The China Resources Group data center was officially launched on July 26. He Xuewen, Vice Mayor of Shanwei and Director of Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone (Shenzhen-Shanwei SCZ), CR General Manager Luo Xi and other members of CR Group’s leadership team attended the inauguration ceremony. Also present at the ceremony were inspectors of the Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, heads of the Group’s departments, strategic business units, and tier-1 profit centers, and IT managers from various units. The launch event attracted over 110 participants.
Vice Mayor He Xuewen gave a speech on behalf of the Shenzhen and Shanwei governments. He praised the efficiency of the construction of the data center and congratulated the company on the official launch of the center. During a brief introduction of the development and policies of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone (SCZ), he called for closer cooperation in more fields between the management committee of Shenzhen-Shanwei SCZ and China Resources Group.
Vice Chairman Wang Yin delivered a speech on behalf of the Group. He thanked the governments of Guangdong province and Shenzhen and Shanwei municipalities, and Shenzhen-Shanwei SCZ for their support for the company’s development, noting that the data center not only lays the groundwork for the implementation of the state’s “Internet +” strategy and of the Group’s strategy for 13th “Five-year Plan”, but also represents a major breakthrough in China Resources’ information technology development and technology support capabilities. In future, the Group’s IT management will be further specialized, standardized and modernized.
During an important speech at the ceremony, General Manager Luo Xi pointed out that the data centralization was in line with the strategic needs of the Group. As China Resources has an extensive client base and abundant data resources, cross-industry data integration and transactions will prove highly valuable to the company. Every business unit should expedite the data centralization process according to the Group’s plan, and reinforce data standardization efforts. He also stressed that data centralization entails risk concentration, therefore the Group must work with all business units to ensure secure, reliable and efficient operations of the data center, with the introduction of a fully developed data center management system to ensure effective migration coordination, business assurance and optimal scheduling of data centralization operations. In addition, the company will step up efforts in the establishment of on-site and off-site disaster recovery centers; thus individual business units should no longer consider setting up any individual disaster recovery centers.
Chief Information Officer Wang Peihui gave a presentation at the ceremony on the background, overall planning and features of the data center. IT heads from various business units joined the group discussion and put forward constructive suggestions.
With a total area of 43,000 square meters and a floor area of 46,000 square meters, the China Resources Group data center consists of two data center buildings, one monitoring operations building, one power center and one dormitory. It has 20 computer room modules which can accommodate approximately 40,000 servers. Five modules will be activated in the first phase, offering enough space for approximately 10,000 servers. As the most cost-effective new-generation large-scale data facility in South China, the data center features a large number of energy conservation innovations, resulting in a substantial reduction in energy consumption. It has been selected in the first batch of state-level green data center pilot projects, and passed the class-A international data center certification. Once launched, it will offer highly reliable, low-cost and efficient “Cloud-based” IT infrastructure sharing services to all units both within the CR Group and beyond.
