Fortune released the Global 500 2016 list at 7 p.m. on 20 July. With a total turnover of US$76.5 billion, China Resources Group ranks 91st, 24 places higher than last year's rankings, each year improving its ranking of the previous year.

China Resources Group entered the Fortune Global 500 rankings in 2010 when the Group was ranked 395th. Our rankings improved substantially in the following years: 346th in 2011, 233rd in 2012, 187th in 2013, 143rd in 2014, 115th in 2015, and 91st in 2016 – rising 304 places in seven years. In 2015, China Resources Group logged a turnover of RMB481.2 billion with a 4.3% year-on-year growth and a total profit of RMB43.9 billion with a 17.2% year-on-year growth. As of the end of 2015, the total value of the Group’s assets hit RMB994.5 billion, up 6.4% year-on-year.

Prior to 2000, China Resources Group’s businesses were primarily limited to trade operations. In 2001, the company drew up a development strategy with Hong Kong as its headquarters, geared towards industrial businesses in mainland China. Through sustained and dedicated efforts, the Group eventually obtained a number of highly competitive subsidiaries in various businesses. As a result, the Group’s overall competitiveness has been substantially enhanced and its leading position in the market consolidated. All its seven business segments are fully exposed to market competition. The turnover of two segments, China Resources Enterprise and China Resources Pharmaceutical, has exceeded HK$100 billion.

Among this year’s Fortune Global 500 companies, the number of Chinese enterprises (including those from Hong Kong and Taiwan) hit an all-time high, increasing from 106 in 2015 to 110. China Resources ranks 17th out of the 110 Chinese companies on the list, up five places from the previous year. It marks the 7th consecutive year that the Group managed to improve its rankings among the Global 500 companies as well as the Chinese entrants.
