On 8 April, Chairman Fu Yuning met with Mr. Steve Ciobo, member of the Australian House of Representatives and Australian Minister for Trade and Investment. The meeting was held in the China Resources Building, Hong Kong.

Fu welcomed the Minister, saying that Australia was not just endowed with rich mineral resources and abundant land, it also had a prominent edge in the energy and agricultural products industries. Following a visit to Australia last year, the Group and its subsidiaries had travelled back to various parts of Australia on a number of occasions seeking to identify suitable investment areas and investment targets, and letters of intent had been signed to cooperate on some projects. China Resources believes that it will have more investment projects in Australia, on the back of the recent conclusion of the free-trade agreement between the two countries.

The minister expressed his gratitude for the reception arranged by Chairman Fu. He said that Australia welcomed highly competitive and diversified Chinese companies like China Resources to invest in the country. After returning to Australia, he would coordinate with the federal government and state governments and would appoint dedicated personnel to liaise with China Resources. He would also expedite the conclusion of the negotiations by applying the most preferential policies.

Director and Executive Vice President Chen Lang, management from the Group’s Strategy Management Department and China Resources Enterprise were present at the meeting.
